AlterStaff Inc. is the team behind the hit-game, Yandere AI Girlfriend Simulator ~ With You ‘Til The End (demo available on itch.io, full game coming soon to Steam). It’s a first-of-its-kind immersive interactive escape room game with a Yandere AI girlfriend powered by ChatGPT. She does not want to let you out of the room, but you want to get out in whatever way possible – and with her as an AI NPC empowered by ChatGPT, there are endless ways to do so!
Our current project isAI2U: With You 'Til The End, a first-person escape room game with AI-powered NPCS who are desperate to keep you by their side... so much so that they will resort to drastic measures to keep you from leaving! Explore the environment, solve puzzles, and uncover mysteries in different levels with various themes.

Job Description:
As a Game Server Developer at Alterstaff, you will be an integral part of our Server & AI team, responsible for developing and maintaining the server-side logic of our games. Your role will focus on ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end, handling the interchange of data between players and the server, and developing backend functionalities to enhance user experiences. You will work closely with game designers, AI specialists, and other developers to bring our innovative game concepts to life.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain robust, scalable server-side architecture for our games using C#, JS is a bonus.
Implement server-side logic and database management to ensure smooth gameplay and data integrity.
Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server logic, utilizing JavaScript effectively.
Optimize server performance for high-traffic environments, ensuring low latency and high reliability across Azure and AWS platforms.
Implement security measures to protect game data and prevent cheating or hacking.
Work with AI developers to integrate AI-driven elements into game servers.
Participate in the design and development of new features with a focus on multiplayer and network components.
Continuously research and implement modern best practices in server development and technologies.
Provide detailed documentation and efficient testing strategies for server-side features.
Assist in the deployment of game updates, patches, and new installations on Azure and AWS environments.
Expected to travel approximately 10% of the time to attend gaming shows and conventions, representing Alterstaff and networking with industry professionals.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in game server development or similar roles.
Strong proficiency in server-side programming languages such as C#, Java, and Python.
Extensive experience with cloud services like Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS), managing scalable server environments.
Familiarity with database technology such as SQL, NoSQL, and data caching mechanisms.
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
Knowledge of networking protocols and socket programming.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for game development.

The pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $70,000 and $120,000 per year. However, base pay may vary further depending on individualized factors for candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
